ALICIA GILBERT
A professional dancer for 14 years, Alicia studied, performed and taught in Philadelphia, New York and Los Angeles. For several years while in studies of general health, fitness and nutrition, she became the assistant director of the One on One fitness program of the prominent 18th Street Gym in center city Philadelphia, PA.
After moving to Los Angeles, Alicia continued her career in the film and commercial industry where she launched a personal training program.
In January of 1999 she was introduced to Pilates for rehabilitation of a hamstring injury and was hooked for life! Six months later she began the teacher training certification program at the acclaimed "Pilates Center" in Boulder, Colorado. This indepth education from some of the finest movement teachers in the nation was a natural progression that deepened her innate vision into the body and understanding of body mechanics. Simultaneously she studied several different modalities of body work with proteges from IPSY (massage school of Santa Monica, CA), MAT (Myoskeletal Alignment Technique) of Eric Dalton and AIS ( Isolated Activated Stretching) of Aaron Mattes. Alicia has been teaching Pilates for nearly seven years and is dedicated to expanding her knowledge of the form along with other modalities that feed the same goal: awareness, attunement and integration for the mind, body and soul through truth of movement. This goal facilitated her creation of Full Circle Pilates LA, a studio where teachers are able to teach and explore the pure form of Pilates. A studio where teachers and clientele alike are dedicated to finding their fullest potential in the Pilates form.

AMY LANGE
Amy Lange was first introduced to The Pilates Method
in the mid 1980’s
when she was a graduate student in Modern Dance at the University
of Utah. Earning her MFA in 1990, she moved to San Francisco to
dance and continued her study of Pilates with Elizabeth Larkam
and Mercy Sidbury. In 1993, Amy moved to Boulder, CO and, upon discovering
The Pilates Center, began The Pilates Center Teacher Training Program. She was certified in 1994.
Amy has worked at The Pilates Center since 1993 as a certified instructor and mentoring student
teachers. She began lecturing in 1998 for The Teacher Training
Program and in 2000 for The Moving Center, offering
continuing education workshops across the country and International
Teacher Training lectures in Israel and Paris, France. Continuing
her affiliation with the Pilates Center, Amy currently lives in
Encinitas, CA and is the owner of Pacific Pilates.
In addition to her interest in Pilates, Amy has enjoyed performing
in several regional modern dance companies. Now Amy runs along
the beach, surfs, takes acting classes and avidly continues to
rock-climb with her husband, Don. Having grown up involved in many
sports, including swimming, gymnastics and ski-racing, Amy finds
the Pilates Method the best cross-training for life and well-being. |
JULIE RADER
Julie Rader has been studying yoga and meditation since childhood.
As a child she learned to use mental imagery from her mother to
improve gymnastics routines. It appeared to work as she won several
national competitions and went on to become an All American springboard
diver in college. With a BA in Psychology and a MS in Physiology
of Exercise, Julie has a strong knowledge of the mind/body connection.
She spent three months at an ashram in Sweden learning Kriya yoga and
deep tantric meditations under Swami Janakanada, from the Bihar
school of Yoga philosophy. During this time she spent 33 days without talking, reading or writing. Julie also taught yoga and
learned Tai Chi in China. She now owns and manages Mukti Yoga
Studio in Manhattan Beach, California. Her teaching style includes
a blend of vinyasa flow, tantric meditations, Tai Chi, and kundalini.
Every class is a journey and, like life, no class is ever the
same. A truly balanced person has one's feet firmly grounded and
one's head up in the clouds.
